What Makes the Leading Edge Different

Professional networking and referral groups are an excellent way for business owners to grow their client base and revenue. Designed to connect members with a broader network of potential clients and collaborators, these groups provide a structured system for sharing business leads, while also fostering long-term partnerships and offering opportunities to learn from each other’s areas of expertise.

If you’re thinking about joining a networking and referral group in Virginia’s Hampton Roads Region, here are nine reasons to consider The Leading Edge.

  1. We are the longest standing networking group in Williamsburg, VA.

Founded in 2002, The Leading Edge has the longest tenure of any networking group in the area. We have a well-established reputation for actively helping members to maximize their exposure to the many businesses and individuals in the Williamsburg community, and beyond.

  1. Our founder, Steve Rosen, is still a member.

Steve’s continued involvement in The Leading Edge brings invaluable experience and insights into the challenges and opportunities members can face. He is an active presence, who encourages innovation while ensuring the group maintains its core principles and practices.

  1. We are a not-for-profit, not owned by any one person, so each member is an owner.

We are a self-governing referral group, focused on maintaining a value-oriented, structured referral environment, where our members interact efficiently and productively. Every member is dedicated to the principles of honesty, fairness, and customer service in their business dealings.

  1. We do not have an application fee.

Applying to be a member is easy and free. Prospective members may attend two meetings as a visitor before completing the one-page Membership Application and submitting it to the Membership Committee for review.

  1. Our annual membership dues are only $240.

As an independent group, we are not obligated to support a parent organization and charge excessive membership dues. All funds collected from members are applied to operating expenses, including meeting space rental, so that our members do not incur any additional costs throughout the year.

  1. A website bio is included with your membership.

Our website bios serve as an additional marketing tool for members to showcase their strengths and expertise. By including a bio and photo on The Leading Edge website, members can reach potential clients searching for their specific skills or services.

  1. We provide business advice and support.

In addition to fostering long-term, meaningful relationships and generating qualified personal referrals, we regularly share marketing and educational experiences that can benefit all members. We also offer opportunities to brainstorm with the group if a member is struggling with any aspect of their business.

  1. We have a variety of new businesses and established businesses.

Our Williamsburg referral group is comprised of a diverse membership, which includes startups and new businesses, as well as established professionals, mentors and leaders. And everyone is committed to each other’s growth and success.

  1. We are community-oriented.

As a part of our commitment to the community, we periodically donate funds to local non-profit charitable organizations as our way of giving back. Additionally, our members often support these organizations in other ways individually as volunteers and sponsors, or through advertising.
